In development. Now inviting Indian institutions to pilot.
AI proposes the marks. Your teachers decide them.
iProGrader reads handwritten answer scripts, photographed on a phone or scanned, and proposes marks against your rubric with the evidence beside each one. Teachers review, adjust and approve. Nothing is published without human approval.
- Scanner or phone camera
- Any board, any grade
- Scripts and results stored in India
The marking pile
Every exam ends with a stack of scripts and a red pen.
Then come the evenings: the same question read again and again, totals added and re-added, a page that never got scanned, a booklet that came back short.
Teachers want the last script of the night to get the same care as the first. Students and parents want to know why a mark is what it is. Both deserve more than a tired note in the margin.
iProGrader does the first reading, shows its working, and leaves the judgement to your teachers.
How it works
From paper to published, with a teacher at the end
Start with the questions, maximum marks and your marking scheme, and choose the paper for the exam: plain sheets, pre-numbered booklets, iProGrader QR booklets or your own barcoded stationery. Then:
- Capture
Photograph or scan the scripts
Scan in bulk, or photograph pages with a phone, one side at a time. Blurred, cut-off or duplicate shots are caught so they can be retaken. No scanner needed.
- Check
Every page accounted for, as far as the paper allows
Before any marking, missing, duplicate or wrong pages are flagged wherever the paper makes that possible, so only those pages need rescanning.
- Propose
Proposed marks, with the evidence beside them
Each answer is matched to its question and marked against your rubric, including partial credit and accepted alternative answers. Every proposed mark points to the page and the part of the answer it is based on, and anything unclear is flagged for a person.
- Approve
Teachers decide, then publish
Teachers accept or change each mark, and every change records who made it and why. Results are published only when an authorised person approves them.
Honest page checks
What we can prove depends on the paper. We say so.
Before any marking, iProGrader checks each script for missing, duplicate or wrong pages wherever the paper makes that possible. When completeness cannot be proven, it says that plainly instead of showing a green tick.
-
iProGrader QR booklets, or your own barcoded stationery
Exactly which pages are missing, duplicated, out of order or from another booklet.
-
Pre-numbered booklets
Gaps and order in the page numbers.
-
Plain sheets with a QR cover sheet and a declared page count
Whether the number of pages matches, but not which interior page is missing.
-
Plain unnumbered sheets
Image quality and best-effort checks. Completeness cannot be proven, and the script is labelled that way.
Different exams can use different paper.
In the details
Built around how answer scripts are really written, collected and checked
-
No question silently skipped
Every question ends up marked, confirmed as unanswered, or flagged for a teacher. An answer the system could not read is never quietly given zero.
-
Answers in Indian languages
Students can answer in English, Hindi or a regional language, including mixed scripts such as English technical terms inside Devanagari prose. Mixed text is kept as written.
-
OMR sheets for MCQ tests
Evaluate bubble sheets with set codes and negative marking. Bubbles are read without any AI model, and only unclear marks such as double or faint bubbles come to you.
-
Set up the way your institution works
Configure by institution, program, grade, class and individual exam. For example, plain paper for primary classes and barcoded booklets for board exams, across every campus.
-
Calibrated before it goes live
Your teachers mark a sample of real scripts first. iProGrader is compared against those marks, and your institution decides when it is ready to use.
Who it's for
For every kind of institution, from grade 1 to postgraduate
Academic structures are configured, not fixed, so iProGrader fits a board school, a test series or a university program alike.
-
Schools
Any board or state curriculum, any grade, with different paper and review rules for different classes.
-
School chains
Shared settings across campuses, with each campus able to run its own exams.
-
Coaching and test series
Descriptive answers and OMR-based MCQ tests in one place.
-
Colleges
Including autonomous colleges: semester and program structures, internal tests and end-semester exams.
-
Universities
Programs, campuses and exams configured independently, with QR booklets where page-level proof matters.
Trust and privacy
Student data stored in India, handled with care
People make the final call.
AI marks are proposals. Teachers review and approve them, and nothing is published without human approval.
-
Designed for the DPDP Act 2023
Privacy is built around India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and its Rules, including the extra care it requires for children's data. Only the minimum needed is sent for AI evaluation.
-
Data hosted in India
Scripts and results are stored in the Mumbai region. For institutions that require it, iProGrader is designed to restrict AI evaluation to models hosted in India where such models are available, and to show that choice before any marking runs.
-
Aadhaar never collected
No form field, upload detail or roster import asks for or accepts an Aadhaar number.
-
Originals kept, changes recorded
Original scans are never altered, and every mark change keeps a record of who made it and why.
FAQ
Questions institutions ask us
Does AI replace teachers?
No. iProGrader proposes marks and shows the evidence for each one. Teachers review, change and approve them, and nothing is published without human approval. The aim is for teachers to spend their review time on the answers that need them.
Do we need a scanner?
No. Pages can be photographed with a phone camera, with prompts to retake blurred or cropped shots. If you have a scanner, bulk scanning works as well.
Do students have to use special answer booklets?
No. iProGrader works with plain paper, pre-numbered booklets, iProGrader QR booklets or your own barcoded stationery. QR or barcoded pages allow the strongest page checks; with plain paper, iProGrader tells you clearly what it could not verify.
What happens if a page is missing or a question is skipped?
Where the paper allows it, missing, duplicate and wrong pages are flagged before marking, so only those pages need rescanning. Separately, every question must end up marked, confirmed as unanswered or flagged for a teacher, so nothing is silently skipped.
Which languages can students write in?
English, Hindi and other Indian languages, including answers that mix scripts. Calibration on your own teacher-marked scripts shows how well marking matches your teachers in each language before you rely on it.
Where is our data stored, and how is student privacy protected?
Scripts and results are stored in India, in the Mumbai region. iProGrader is designed to restrict AI evaluation to India-hosted models where available for institutions that require it. Privacy is designed around the DPDP Act 2023, including children's data, only the minimum needed is sent for AI evaluation, and Aadhaar numbers are never collected.
